Some students on the Spring 2017 degree list are unable to view GPA in CalCentral.

Description:

Spring 2017 GPA values are not displaying in CalCentral for some students who are on the Spring 2017 degree list. GPA values should be displayed for a term once the term end date has passed.

Issue:

Students who are taking multiple sections of a Class can only see a Grade for one of the sections.

Description:

Students who are taking multiple sections of a Class can only see a Grade for one of the sections.  From the My Academics tab, both class sections will be visible in the Semesters card detail link. However, on the GPA Calculator card only one of the sections will display the grade.

Status:

Typically, this issue occurs when a class has multiple sections and only one class instance has been graded. Once the grades for the second (or third) instance of the class has been graded, the student will see their grades for ALL of their instances.

Students will be able to view all grades through the Spring 2017 Semesters card. Advisors may view all grades through the Student Overview page.

What to do:

ISSUE:

For some newly admitted students, after paying their initial deposit, CalCentral continues to display the message “Deposit required”.

Description:  For some newly admitted students, after paying the required deposit to accept an offer of admission, CalCentral continues to display the message "Deposit required for graduate/undergraduate offer of admission" and to display the "Pay Deposit" button, as if the deposit had not yet been paid.

Status:

This is due to a known issue with the CalCentral / SIS system affecting a small number of admitted students. A temporary process has been put in place that will run hourly to correct the problem.  The permanent fix will be in place in early June as part of the GoLive 9 updates.    

What to do:

If this issue is occurring for you, please allow CalCentral an hour to update its records to reflect your payment.  If the issue persists after an hour, please file a support ticket by emailing  sishelp@berkeley.edu   


 

ISSUE:

Gender Data does not display on CalCentral Profile - Demographic Information for some students

Description:  

In CalCentral, the Gender data displays as “Not available” even though the data is stored correctly in Campus Solutions.

ISSUE:

Fall 2017 classes may have incorrect special titles, class descriptions, or class notes (including notes about Early Drop Deadlines or Course Materials Fees).

Description:

When the Fall 2016 term rolled to create Fall 2017 in SIS Campus Solutions, a glitch occurred that caused the contents of the notes tab to be copied into Fall 2017, which was not intended to happen. We are currently working with the SIS technical team onto identifying the cause of this error, but in the meantime, some Fall 2017 classes may have incorrect special titles, class descriptions, or class notes (including notes about Early Drop Deadlines or Course Materials Fees).

ISSUE:

Academic Summary shows incorrect Total Course Units and Non-Adjusted Course Units for Transfer Credit.

Description:  

In CalCentral, the Academic Summary page in My Academics is showing incorrect Total Course Units and Non-Adjusted Course Units for Transfer Credit.  The data for the two fields should be switched.  The bug is most evident for students who have over 70 units of lower division non-UC transfer courses.

ISSUE:  

The Degree Progress Card is Displaying Former Student Data

Description:  If you were a former student at UC Berkeley between 1995 and 2016 you will be able to view the Degree Progress Card and Committee Card under my "My Academics" in CalCentral. These cards will display your qualifying examination, and/or advancement to candidacy, and filing dates. This display is in error. This information will be removed in our next GoLive.

The original design for “My Academics” is to surface only information pertinent to faculty such as mid-point grading, teaching assignments and active service for the qualifying examination and dissertation. There will be a future design to capture your teaching and historical student information on a separate page in CalCentral.

ISSUE:

The Transfer Credit Report shows missing data for UC Berkeley Extension concurrent enrollment courses

Description:  In CalCentral, the Transfer Credit Report shows missing data for UC Berkeley Extension concurrent enrollment courses.  The institution name and transfer course information (on the left-side) are showing as blank on the report.  However, the equivalent course, units, GPA, and grade points still appear correctly.

What to do:

Students and advisors can view and verify the institution on the Transfer Credit Card in CalCentral.

ISSUE:

The Transfer Units total that displays on the Student Success card does not reflect the correct value for students admitted prior to fall 2016.   Advisors may view the correct total on the Transfer Credit card.

Description:  In CalCentral, the Transfer Units total that displays on the Student Success card is displaying an incorrect total.  The correct Transfer Units total may be viewed on the Transfer Credit card.

ISSUE:

The “Active Holds” section in the Status and Holds card in CalCentral does not always display the active (or inactive) holds correctly.

Description:  In CalCentral, the Active Holds section in the Status and Holds card on both the Student Overview page (advisor view) and the My Academics page (student view) is not reflecting the active or inactive holds correctly.

What to do:

Students will need to check with their Advisors for updated information about holds.  

Advisors may view the accurate information in Campus Solutions. From CalCentral, Advisors should click on the “Service Indicator” link, which is available from either their Advisor Dashboard or from the Student Overview page.  This link will access the Manage Service Indicators page, where the most current Holds information is displayed.

ISSUE:

Cumulative Unit and Summer Enrollment data may be incomplete for some students due to continuing transition from legacy systems

Description:

CalCentral is in the process of updating the sourcing of historical student records. Students may be experiencing one or more of the following issues:

  1. Cumulative Units total does not include Fall 2016 classes

  2. Cumulative Units only includes UC Berkeley units

  3. Summer 2016 classes are not appearing on the Semesters card. (Note: This is only relevant for students who were admitted Fall 2016 and took one or more Summer 2016 classes.)

ISSUE:   

Advising Notes filters are not working correctly in Chrome browser.

When attempting to use the “Filter” feature in Notes in order to limit the information displayed, any field populated for the search will result in an error.

Or, if in a Chrome browser, use the sort button at the top right to sort the notes in these ways:

  • alphabetically by author's name

  • alphabetically by topic

  • by priority

ISSUE:   

The “Loan to Work” and “Work to Loan” conversion process in CalCentral is not available.

Description:

The ability for students to complete “Loan to Work” and “Work to Loan” conversion process in Cal Central is currently disabled.

The financial aid and scholarship staff will update the student's package upon request. This manual process will continue until the functionality is restored, currently planned for mid-August.

What to do:

Students wishing to perform this function should create a case in Cal Student Central at http://studentcentral.berkeley.edu/open-case

ISSUE:

Class schedule sync to bCal is no longer updating entries.

Description:

There is a feature in CalCentral that allows students to sync their Class Schedule to their bConnected calendars. This feature has been creating multiple duplicate entries for some students. As of today, the automated update sync has been halted. This means that changes in Class Schedules will no longer be reflected in bCal.

Students should monitor their Class Schedules and make any updates to their bCal entries manually.
